Ultrahigh vacuum measuring ionization gauge
The ionization gage described consists of separate ionization and collector regions connected at an exit area with a modulator electrode. In addition to the standard modulation function, the modulator in this location yields a suprising increase in collector current, apparently due to improved focussing and extraction of ions from the ionization region
Gauge calibration by diffusion
Vacuum gage calibration by diffusing a known quantity of gas through a heated barrier into a gauge is examined. The gas flow raises the pressure in the gauge to known level and is then compared with the gauge's pressure reading
Study of density calibration in space Final report, 18 Jun. 1964 - 18 Aug. 1965
Design, construction, and experimental evaluation of in-flight calibration system for satellite mass spectrometers and pressure gauge
Optimal Szeg\"o-Weinberger type inequalities
Denote with the first nontrivial
eigenvalue of the Neumann problem \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{lll}
-\text{div}\left(e^{h\left(|x|\right)}\nabla u\right) =\mu
e^{h\left(|x|\right)}u & \text{in} & \Omega & & \frac{\partial u}{\partial
\nu}=0 & \text{on} & \partial \Omega , \end{array} \right. \end{equation*}
where is a bounded and Lipschitz domain in . Under
suitable assumption on we prove that the ball centered at the origin is the
unique set maximizing among all
Lipschitz bounded domains of of prescribed
-measure and symmetric about the origin. Moreover, an
example in the model case shows that, in general,
the assumption on the symmetry of the domain cannot be dropped. In the
one-dimensional case, i.e. when reduces to an interval we
consider a wide class of weights (including both Gaussian and anti-Gaussian).
We then describe the behavior of the eigenvalue as the interval slides
along the -axis keeping fixed its weighted length
Sectoral Employment Efkcts of Trade and ProductiviQ in a Small Open Economy
This paper assesses the impact of trade and technology on Belgian industrial employment. A framework is developed which incorporates employment effects of (i) export expansion (ii) impost competition and (iii) labour saving productivity improvements. In this context, evidence is found for the hypothesis that international trade induces adjustments in technology.
Cone-manifolds and the density conjecture
We give an expository account of our proof that each cusp-free hyperbolic
3-manifold M with finitely generated fundamental group and incompressible ends
is an algebraic limit of geometrically finite hyperbolic 3-manifolds.Comment: 19 Pages, 2 figures; to appear, proceedings of the Warwick
